Michael Boyce-Jacino
President and CEO, BioNanomatrix
Michael Boyce-Jacino has served as president and CEO since 2004. He has more than 20 years of senior management and scientific experience in the development and commercialization of innovative products for genetic analysis. Prior to joining BioNanomatrix, Dr. Boyce-Jacino served as vice president and director of the global genomics research business for Beckman Coulter. Previously, he served as chief scientific officer at Orchid BioSciences, where he helped pioneer the development of innovative technologies for the genetic analysis of single nucleotide polymorphisms, or SNPs. Earlier in his career, Dr. Boyce-Jacino was president of genetic analysis company Molecular Tool, Inc., later acquired by Orchid. Dr. Boyce-Jacino received a B.S. degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a Ph.D. from the University of Minnesota. He holds numerous patents for his work in genotyping technologies.
Edward L. Erickson
Consultant
Edward Erickson is a well-known industry executive with extensive experience in the biotechnology industry. Currently a consultant to life science and venture capital firms, he serves on a number of company boards, including BioTrove, Metabolon and Molecular Biometrics. Previously, Mr. Erickson served as president, CEO and/or a director of over a dozen medical products firms, including Barrier Therapeutics (acquired by Stiefel), Cellatope Corporation (recently acquired by Cypress Bioscience, Inc.), Cholestech, DepoTech, Immunicon and Megabios. Four of these firms successfully completed IPOs during his tenure. Earlier in his career he held senior management positions with Amersham International and Serono. Mr. Erickson earned B.S. and M.S. degrees from the Illinois Institute of Technology and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
Tracy Warren
General Partner, Battelle Ventures
Tracy Warren is a general partner at Battelle Ventures and Innovation Valley Partners, where she focuses primarily on investments in healthcare, life sciences and emerging energy technologies. She led the firm’s healthcare investments in BioNanomatrix, Endovalve and NuPathe, and non-healthcare investments in Metatomix, SmartSynch and Superprotonic. Prior to Battelle Ventures, Ms. Warren was an associate at a predecessor venture capital fund. Previously, she was an analyst in Healthcare Mergers and Acquisitions and an associate in corporate finance at SG Cowen Securities, focusing on companies in the medical device and healthcare information technology fields. Ms. Warren received a B.S. from New York University’s Stern School of Business and an MBA from Columbia Business School.
